Provides concurrent review of physician and ancillary clinical documentation to identify complications, comorbidities, and opportunities for improved documentation.
Education:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred but not required.
- Must successfully complete the DRG Assurance educational program offered by Parkland Nursing Education within six weeks of employment.
Experience:
- Must have four years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
Equivalent Experience:
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
- Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job.
- May be required to have additional specialty certifications.
Skills or Special Abilities:
- Maintains standards of professional conduct and performs all assigned and unassigned duties in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Applicants must pass Medication Examination prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Medication Examination on file.
- Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing and ancillary staff.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in age specific needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures.
- Prefer applicant has knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding conventions and/or clinical auditing processes.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
